Host an IPELRA Seminar
Host an IPELRA Seminar
IPELRA is embarking on an effort to move our training opportunities to new locations and to involve more of our members in the training process. To that end, IPELRA’s Training Committee is asking for your help. Does your jurisdiction/agency have meeting space available such that you could volunteer to host a training session? Many IPELRA members have hosted training the past few years (including Arlington Heights, Bloomingdale, Buffalo Grove, Hanover Park, Hoffman Estates, Plainfield, Schaumburg, Skokie), and we are hoping to expand upon this list of locations.

Ideally, we are looking for meeting space that would accommodate from 50 to 100 participants seated classroom style. The availability of some basic audio visual equipment (in most cases a PowerPoint projector and screen) would be useful, as well.

Generally, the sessions run for a half-day (9:00 a.m. until noon) and hosting members are asked to arrange for refreshments, such as donuts/bagels, coffee/tea/water/soda, and the like. The cost of refreshments is fully paid for by IPELRA. In the case of hosting a full-day training program, the hosting site would need to be able to accommodate a catered seated lunch for the group, in addition to the general refreshments. All other program material (name tags, handouts, etc.) are provided by the Secretariat office and are not the responsibility of the host.

This is a great way to get more involved in your professional association. And, hosting members can attend the training session at no cost!

Please contact Training Committee Chair Leslie G. Renzie-Barry () if you are able and interested in hosting and let Leslie know about the space you have available and whether there is any usage fee.
