Tameika currently is the Director of Human Resources at the City of Waukegan, the largest municipality in Lake County, IL.  As Director, she is responsible for overseeing and monitoring the human resources function, including recruitment, selection, policy development, compensation and classification, employee benefits, performance appraisals, training and development, Collective Bargaining Agreement interpretation and negotiations, grievance and dispute resolution, and labor and employee relations for over four hundred fifty (450) employees within six (6) collective bargaining units and one (1) non-bargained for group.  In addition to the aforementioned tasks, Tameika serves as the Secretary for the Civil Service Commission of Waukegan.  Tameika was originally hired with the City as an HR Analyst in August 2011.  Through dedication, hard work and an insatiable appetite for knowledge which has assisted in allowing her to make sound decisions beneficial for the municipality, she was promoted to oversee the department in May 2014.  

Tameika holds a Bachelors’ of Science with a concentration in Criminal Justice from Chicago State University.  She holds a Masters in Human Resources Management and a Masters in Business Administration with a concentration in General Management from Keller Graduate School of Management.  Tameika became a member of NPELRA/IPELRA in December 2011.  She continues to gain knowledge in the Labor Relations industry by attending workshops, webinars and seminars provided by the organization.  In August 2017, Tameika earned the designation of Certified Labor Relations Professional (CLRP) from NPELRA.  In addition to the aforementioned, Tameika is a member of the Society of Human Resources Management (SHRM).

Tameika is also the Chairperson for the IPELRA Awards Committee and the IPELRA Sponsorship Committee and serves on the IPELRA Legislative Advocacy Committee
