Jennifer McMahon has been interested in local government since her first job at the Village of Flossmoor at age 16. Her desire to serve in local government led to her earning a BA in Urban Studies from DePaul University and a Master’s in Urban Planning & Policy from UIC. Jennifer has worked in five different communities as well as at the federal level and for a council of government. Her career has included positions as the Human Resources Assistant for the City of Elmhurst, the Assistant City Administrator for the City of Warrenville, and currently as Director of Human Resources for the City of St. Charles.
Jennifer is a member of ICMA, ILCMA, NPELRA, and IPELRA – the premier professional organizations for local government managers. Jennifer is also an alumnus of ICMA’s Emerging Leaders Development Program. She has given back to the industry that has enriched her life by serving on committees and various board positions for ILCMA and IAMMA. In 2010, she was recognized by IAMMA with their Outstanding Service Award – Senior Professional. Most recently, she completed a two-year stint as president of The Legacy Project, a professional organization dedicated to the advancement of women in public leadership in local and state government. She also acts as a career mentor for DePaul University’s Alumni Sharing Knowledge program.
